Marquee forward Kellie Gibson has been named in the Club’s AFL Women’s squad to tackle Fremantle on Sunday.

Gibson rolled her ankle in the opening minute of the team’s comeback win over Carlton last Sunday. Subsequent scans later revealed no structural damage.

The West Australian has been named on a half-forward flank in the 24-woman squad, which will be reduced to a team of 22 on Friday at 4.30pm (SA time) on afc.com.au.

Untried ruck/defender Lauren O’Shea, key-position player Sarah Allan, and hard-running midfielder Monique Hollick have all been included at this stage.

The Crows will make at least one change to the team that defeated Carlton at Thebarton Oval, with tough defender Anne Hatchard squeezed out of the squad.

Fremantle earned its first points in the inaugural AFL Women’s season in a draw with Greater Western Sydney last weekend.

The Dockers defeated the Crows in a pre-season trial match in Darwin last month, and Crows women’s coach Bec Goddard said her undefeated side could not afford to take Freo lightly.

“(They’re a) really great opponent. They’ve got superstars across the field, a bit like Carlton had,” Goddard said on Wednesday.

“We got beaten the last time we played them (in Darwin) and we want to put forward a better effort this time around.”

The clash at Fremantle Oval begins at 4:05pm local time or 6:35pm in South Australia.

The match will be broadcast into SA and WA on 7Mate and nationally on Fox Footy. A free live stream is also available via AFL.com.au or the official AFL App.
