Brisbane has named captain Dayne Beams for Saturday night’s clash with Adelaide at the Gabba.

The 2015 Merrett-Murray Medallist returns after missing the past fortnight with a quad injury.

Beams’ inclusion provides a massive boost for the Queensland side, with Lions vice-captain Tom Rockliff sidelined for up to three weeks with a dislocated shoulder suffered in last weekend’s 38-point loss to Hawthorn.

Last year's No.3 draft pick Hugh McCluggage has also earned a recall after being rested against the Hawks, while rookie forward Matthew Hammelmann will play his first AFL game of the year after being upgraded to the senior list on Wednesday evening.

Key forward Josh Schache and wingman Rohan Bewick have been omitted from the Lions' 22.
