Crows defender Stevie-Lee Thompson has been added to the Allies squad to play Victoria in the AFL Women’s State of Origin match next month.

Northern Territory-based Thompson joins premiership-winning teammates Chelsea Randall, Ebony Marinoff and Courtney Cramey in the Allies squad.

Forward Sarah Perkins will line-up against her Crows teammates after being selected to represent Victoria.

AFLW Best and Fairest winner and Crows Club Champion Erin Phillips won’t play in the showpiece game because of commitments with WNBA team Dallas Wings in the United States.

Western Bulldogs captain Katie Brennan and Melbourne recruit Bianca Jakobsson have also received call-ups to the Allies squad.

Victoria has added Lauren Pearce (Melbourne), Lauren Arnell and Sarah Hosking (Carlton), Steph Chiocci, Jasmine Garner and Jaimee Lambert (Collingwood) to its 22.

They replace 2017 AFLW leading goalkicker Darcy Vescio, Jess Duffy, Danielle Hardiman and Sarah D’Arcy, who are all unavailable because of injury.

Crows premiership coach Bec Goddard will lead the Alliesside opposed to Victorian coach Debbie Lee from Melbourne.

The match between Victoria and the Allies will be played during the Celebration of Football Week.

Etihad Stadium will host the game at 7:40pm (AEST) on Saturday, September 2.

The AFL has confirmed the State of Origin match will also include NAB Supergoals – nine-point goals that will be awarded to goals kicked outside 40 metres.

AFL Head of Female Football Josh Vanderloo said the addition of the Supergoals would be a highlight.

“The State of Origin match provides a great opportunity for us to be creative about how we showcase the best female players in the country,” he said.

“I look forward to watching forwards such as Tayla Harris and Sarah Perkins kicking for the big nine-pointers.”

The AFL Women’s State of Origin match will be broadcast live nationally on the Seven Network and FOXTEL/FOX FOOTY. Entry to the match will be free of charge.

The State of Origin squads were initially based on the 2017 Virgin Australia AFL Women’s All Australian squad. Selection is based on where a player is born, not which state they are currently playing in.

An Under-18 State of Origin match will be played as a curtain-raiser featuring players in the All Australian squad. The NAB AFL Women’s Under-18 All Australian team will be announced after the match.
