Injury Update: Brodie Smith

afc.com.au  September 8, 2017 11:30 AM

Crows defender Brodie Smith will be sidelined for the rest of the season with scans confirming a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his right knee.

Smith injured his knee attempting to tackle during the first quarter of Thursday night’s Qualifying Final against Greater Western Sydney.

Crows Head of Football Brett Burton said scans on Friday morning confirmed the bad news.

“The injury is really disappointing for both Brodie and the Club as we start our finals campaign,” Burton said.

“We will consult a specialist this week with the view to Brodie having surgery, which will unfortunately rule him out for the season.

“Brodie will still be an important part of the group as we continue through September.”

The 25-year-old has played 143 games for the Club since being drafted with Pick No. 14 at the 2010 National Draft.
