Adelaide will unveil five new faces against Essendon at Etihad Stadium on Friday night.

Trade Period recruits Bryce Gibbs and Sam Gibson will play their first games for the Club, while rookie Lachlan Murphy will make his AFL debut alongside draftee Darcy Fogarty and defender Tom Doedee.

Midfielder Cameron Ellis-Yolmen, who missed all of last season with a knee injury, will play his first game since Round 23, 2016, after displaying strong form in the JLT Community Series.

Tom Lynch (side strain) joins fellow forwards Taylor Walker (foot) and Riley Knight (ankle), midfielder Brad Crouch (groin) and defenders Alex Keath (ankle), Brodie Smith (knee) and Andrew McPherson (groin) on the sidelines.

Like Walker and Keath, Lynch will be assessed ahead of next week’s Grand Final rematch.

Hugh Greenwood, Andy Otten, Kyle Cheney and Reilly O’Brien are the emergencies.

Greenwood, Cheney and O’Brien will play in the Club’s SANFL trial against Port Adelaide at Alberton on Friday afternoon. Otten travelled to Melbourne with the AFL team.

After 231 games for Carlton, Gibbs will pull on the Crows colours for the first time on Friday night while Gibson will keep the AFL’s longest active streak of consecutive games alive.

The wingman has played 130 games straight since making his debut for North Melbourne in 2012.

Adelaide’s first pick (No.12 overall) in last year’s AFL National Draft, Fogarty has been rewarded for an impressive three-goal performance against Port Adelaide in the pre-season competition.

At 193cm, 94kg, Fogarty is an aggressive forward with strong hands and excellent foot skills.

Also a first-round selection (in 2015), Doedee’s been waiting two years for his opportunity.

The 21-year-old backman, who has just completed his first full pre-season, led the SANFL for intercept marks last season and finished second in Adelaide’s State League Club Champion award.

Murphy, 19, was selected with pick No.38 in last year’s AFL Rookie Draft.

The versatile small, who won the coveted Dean Bailey award in 2017, is the first player to be drafted from Adelaide’s SANFL development squad.

Friday night’s Round One clash starts at 7:50pm (AEDT).
