High-flying defender Tom Doedee is one of the favourites to win the Rising Star award in a fortnight’s time after his breakout performances in 2018 put him in the spotlight.

Two years in the SANFL prepared the 21-year-old perfectly for the rigours of AFL and Doedee has gone from strength to strength as a ready-made player at the elite level.

We catch up with the Rising Star nominee this week on The Crows Show, brought to you by Foodland, to see how he feels after his first year in the AFL.

“With having that backline already established and me just being a part of that helps me to play my role better,” Doedee said.

“It’s been different playing on different players rather than two years in the SANFL.

“I’ve been playing on talls and smalls throughout the year and you get your ruckmen, you get your big Tom Hawkins’ forwards, you get your small Michael Walters’ so it’s been difficult at times but I feel like I’ve developed throughout the year.”

Also on The Crows Show, our players test drive the state’s newest race track in Tailem Bend, thanks to Toyota, while Brodie Smith hangs out with Noah on the Thomas Farms Junior Jam.

We re-live the 1998 grand final with Mark Bickley, Matthew Robran and Nigel Smart, and Tony Modra talks us through his favourite marks.

The Crows Show, brought to you by Foodland, airs this Sunday at 11:30AM on 7, 7HD and on demand at 7plus.
