Adelaide Football Club Chairman Rob Chapman has addressed players, coaches, staff, corporate partners and supporters at tonight’s Club Champion presentation.

Chapman spoke to a room of nearly 1000 people at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre and described the AFL competition as tough and uncompromising, while reflecting on a season of under-performance.

“We operate in a pass or fail industry and so by that measure we must say we failed this year,” Chapman said.

“Importantly, each and every person associated with our club accepts responsibility for that.

“We have a bunch of committed and passionate people who want to bounce back quickly.”

Chapman described the 2018 season as unrewarding and added the process of reviewing and looking for ways to improve was already well under way.

“We have conducted not one but multiple reviews throughout and at the conclusion of this year, with some conducted by internal people, and others by professional independent third parties,” Chapman said.

“After a lifetime in business and sport, I know that when things go wrong, it’s either the people or the process.

“I’m confident in the conclusion of what we have delved into that by and large we do have the right people in place.

“As we have previously said publicly, as a Club we also put up our hand and own the mistakes.
