Eleni Glouftsis is the first female field umpire in the AFL and the South Australian pioneer speaks to FOOTYplus this Thursday night about achieving her dream and becoming a role model.

“I never would have ever really thought that was possible so to now be umpiring in the AFL is something I can’t be more thankful for,” Glouftsis said.

“When you’re the first of something in anything there’s some people are going to look up to you and all I can do is hopefully encourage more to be part of it; girls, boys, people of different backgrounds and cultures.

“It’s just such a great way to be involved in the game.”

FOOTYplus this week also catches up with South Australia’s winner of The Recruit in 2016 and his journey to becoming the oldest debutant for the Brisbane Lions as a 28-year-old earlier this season.

Amos Gill roams the Hill at Adelaide Oval to find out just how much footy fans know about their other SA sport teams.

Meanwhile, Santos Tour Down Under Race Director Mike Turtur speaks about the changes to the race for the upcoming iteration which will again aim to be the biggest yet.

You can watch FOOTYplus this Thursday evening at 10:30PM, directly after the Adelaide v Geelong game on 7 and 7HD, and on-demand with 7plus.
