On costly turnovers

The thing that decided the game was the fact they were able to score so freely from our turnovers. Sometimes it’s a method thing and a structural thing but in this instance, for the most part, it was just our execution when we had really good looks. It tended to be a game where if you didn’t make the most of your good looks in attack the opposition had a good look on the way back. We just really butchered some chances with the ball.

Even numbers help explain that. They were plus 30 disposals but we had 19 more turnovers than they did and they scored 12.12 from them. They’re a bad set of numbers from our perspective.

On Adelaide’s pressure

Even early in the game, we had a sitter to go four-goals-to-one up and we went into quarter time a goal down. The pressure around the contest, they were pretty sharp, and their ability to get the ball out of congested situations and get a composed possession was strong.

On centre clearances

If I had to pinpoint one major disappointment it would be our centre bounce dominance. I don’t know the exact number but it was very convincing. I thought all the things that reflected our appetite for the contest were pretty good. Our motivation was tested when we would blow really good chances.
