North Melbourne will head to Tasmania to play Adelaide on Saturday without defender Aaron Mullet.

Mullett fractured his right hand in a spoiling contest against the Gold Coast last weekend, and is expected to miss 1 – 2 weeks.

“Aaron met with a specialist this morning and will have surgery to insert a small plate in his hand later this afternoon,” Kangaroos doctor Peter Baquie told NMFC.com.au.

“After the procedure, it will simply be a matter of allowing the wound enough time to heal before he can return.”

Mullett is third in the competition for rebound-50s per game. He missed Round One, but has played every match since.

It will be up to Roos defenders Scott Thompson, Robbie Tarrant and Lachlan Hansen to step up against an Adelaide forward line averaging 134.5 points a game.

The Crows and Kangaroos will meet at Blundstone Arena in Hobart at 1:45pm local time on Saturday.  The Roos will be hoping to secure a second straight win after getting their first victory of the season against the Suns.
