Fans located across the world will be cheering on the Crows when they take on North Melbourne on Saturday night, including six members of the Australian Defence Force stationed in Iraq.

The passionate Crows fans are all from the Adelaide-based 7th Battalion, the Royal Australian Regiment (known as 7 RAR).

They have deployed to Iraq for six months with Task Group Taji, which includes around 300 Australians and 100 New Zealanders, and are part of an international Building Partner Capacity mission.

When time permits, the men watch Crows games live or otherwise catch up on a reply.

Private Nick Pryzibilla from Old Reynella has been attending Crows games since 1993 when he was five – making him a supporter for 23 years.

“My favourite player growing up was Darren Jarman and my favourite memory was going to the MCG seeing the Crows win the 1997 Grand Final,” he said.

“My most heart breaking memory was seeing Tony Modra injure his knee before that Grand Final.

“I am a fanatical Member and the best part of my week whilst deployed is getting to watch the Crows matches.”

Private Jermaine Stuart has been a fan all his life.

“My favourite player was Andrew McLeod, but today it'd be Brodie Smith and Rory Sloane,” he said.

“My favourite memory is when Andrew McLeod kicked that crazy goal from the boundary against Collingwood in 2009.

“My most heartbreaking moment would be when the Crows got beaten by the one free kick against Rutten in the last quarter against Collingwood in 2009.

“We try not to miss out on any Crows games.”
