Adelaide defender Nathan van Berlo will be sidelined for 4-6 weeks with a foot injury.

Van Berlo, who sat out the Club’s SANFL win over Norwood before the bye, experienced more foot soreness in the second quarter of last week’s loss to Central District and didn’t return to the field.

General Manager of High Performance Brett Burton said van Berlo had aggravated a plantar fascia complaint.

“Nathan has injured his plantar fascia and after further assessment this week, we have decided that a period of rest will be the best option,” Burton said.

“Fortunately, he doesn’t require surgery, but we expect him to be sidelined for 4-6 weeks.”

Forward Troy Menzel is also unavailable for selection this week as he recovers from concussion.

“Troy suffered a concussion against Central District, which is his second for the season, so we will be taking a cautious approach with him,” Burton said.

“He will miss this weekend’s game and before being assessed again next week.”
