Richard Douglas has been recalled for Adelaide’s Thursday night blockbuster against Hawthorn.

Douglas, who signed a new three-year deal during the week, replaces injured midfielder Mitch Grigg (ankle) and is the only change to the Crows team that beat Carlton. Douglas, who last played AFL in Round Five, made a successful return from a foot complaint in the SANFL prior to the bye.

Jarryd Lyons, James Podsiadly and untried half-forward Riley Knight are the emergencies and will play in the Club’s SANFL clash with Woodville-West Torrens on Saturday if not required at Adelaide Oval on Thursday night.

Unfortunately, Brad Crouch, who also made his SANFL comeback before the bye, couldn’t be considered for selection at either level after experiencing soreness in the foot he fractured in the NAB Challenge. Crouch will require further assessment and the Club will provide an update when one is available.

Adelaide’s SANFL team will be announced on Thursday evening, with Ricky Henderson (back), Sam Shaw (concussion) and Luke Lowden (Achilles) all in contention to play. Ticketed Crows members receive free entry to the Club’s SANFL games.

Crows defender Kyle Cheney has been named to play his 50th AFL game against his former club in Adelaide’s second-ever ‘home’ Thursday night game.

The much-anticipated match, which starts at 7:20pm, will be the centrepiece of the Adelaide Football Club’s 25th season celebrations. The Crows will be aiming for a similar result to their first-ever AFL game, which was a win over the Hawks in 1991.

Only several hundred tickets remain. A further 300 General Admission were released on Wednesday, but Western Stand Guest Passes are sold out. You can secure your place at the crucial clash, as well as two other home games by becoming a 3 game member.

Adelaide’s own ARIA award-winning band The Superjesus will rock The Hilux Hill at 6:50pm and again at half-time. As part of the pre-match entertainment, there will be highlights and big-screen interviews with past players, who will also form a guard of honour as the team runs out.

The Crows will wear a specially-designed 25th Season Commemorative Guernsey. The jumper, which features the names of 200 past and current Crows, who debuted prior to this season, is available online and in store (West Lakes) at CROWmania. Match worn and player issue guernseys will be auctioned online from Friday, June 19.

The team is:
IN: Richard Douglas
OUT: Mitch Grigg (ankle)
