An experienced midfield duo led the way for Adelaide in the AFL Fantasy stakes during Saturday’s heart-wrenching loss to the Kangaroos.

Scott Thompson ($500,182) showed no ill-effects of a recent hamstring issue to post 111 points from 27 possessions, five marks and seven tackles and finish as Adelaide’s leading Fantasy performer.

It was the biggest score since Round 15 for the two-time Crows Club Champion, who also holds two of the Club’s top five Fantasy totals of the year.

Surprisingly, Thompson remains a unique midfield selection at just over one per cent ownership across the competition.

The tough Crow also has a great recent record against the Saints, with scores of 113 and 128 in the past two meetings between the two sides. He could be worth a punt for coaches needing a point of difference in this weekend’s AFL Fantasy Grand Final.

Richard Douglas ($443,193) joined Thompson to be one of only two Crows to crack the 100-point mark in the Club’s maiden trip to Hobart.

The reliable midfielder notched 27 disposals five marks and five tackles to post 105 points in his best Fantasy performance since Round Nine.

The 2013 best and fairest runner-up has played several run-with roles this season in the absence of injured skipper Nathan van Berlo and elite runner Sam Kerridge, who has also battled injuries of his own.

But Douglas showed he can still be as damaging as ever when given license to attack, and was one of the Club’s better performers in an otherwise disappointing day for the tri-colours.

Brodie Martin ($397,501) continued his breakout season with another fine showing against the Kangaroos. The dashing wingman was rewarded with 88 Fantasy points from 21 touches, six marks and four tackles.

Martin has earned great respect this season with several courageous efforts in the air and on the ground, including a number of clutch marks in defence in Tasmania on Saturday.

His commitment has seen the 25-year-old string together 14 consecutive AFL appearances – the most of his senior career at West Lakes – with his Fantasy value skyrocketing by almost $250k.

With a renewed confidence in his own game, Martin could be one to keep an eye on for next season as a mid-priced Fantasy defender.
