The rebounding defender had 13 combined rebound 50ms and inside 50ms, took eight marks and kicked a crucial running goal in the last quarter.

Magpies onballer Daniel Wells was unanimously judged the best player on the ground, receiving 10 votes.

Wells kicked three goals from 34 disposals, operating at 82 per cent efficiency. He also took nine marks, generated six inside 50ms and won five clearances.

Midfielder Taylor Adams, who also finished with 34 possessions and three goals, and wingman Steele Sidebottom (33 disposals) were each awarded seven votes.

Creative Pies backman Jeremy Howe (three) rounded out the voting.

Howe gathered a career-best 31 possessions, eight marks and five rebound 50ms.

Wells, Hawthorn ruckman Ben McEvoy and Geelong forward Tom Hawkins were the only three players to poll maximum votes on the weekend.
