Sunday’s twilight game against Carlton will be Adelaide’s first match at the MCG this season.

After four straight losses to start the season, Carlton has won three of its past four matches. The Crows, who dropped their first three games, have won four of their last five.

Adelaide has won two of its three away games this season against St Kilda and the Western Bulldogs at Etihad Stadium.

Crows livewire Eddie Betts will play against his former club for the first time on Sunday. Betts kicked 290 goals in 184 games for the Blues in a career spanning nine years.

Betts is third in the AFL for score assists (16) this season.

The Crows are ranked second in the AFL in contested marks, averaging 11.2 per game. Only Fremantle (11.4) average more. James Podsiadly leads the way for Adelaide with 14 – ranked seventh in the League. Patrick Dangerfield has taken 12.

Dangerfield has been at his damaging best in the past five games. He’s averaged more clearances (8.5) and more inside 50ms (7.0) than any other player in the League in this period. Dangerfield, who won a career-best 12 clearances on Thursday night, is 12th overall in the AFL for clearances. Teammate Scott Thompson is 13th with 50.

Carlton is the third-best clearance team in the competition and rank sixth in scores from stoppages. The Blues have the highest kick-to-handball ratio of any team and also like to play on from marks (Ranked No.1).

The Crows and Blues have only met at the MCG three times previously, with Carlton holding the overall advantage 2-1. Adelaide has only won one game from its last 11 attempts at the ‘G’.

Josh Jenkins has averaged 2.8 goals in six games this year. Jenkins is 14th in the Coleman Medal race (17 goals) despite spending the first two weeks of the season in the SANFL. No player has kicked more goals (17) than Jenkins in the past five rounds.

Chris Yarran and Lachie Henderson are joint-leaders of Carlton’s goalkicking this season with 11 each. The pair also tops the Blues for score assists (11).

Daniel Talia has conceded only five goals in his last five games. He’s averaged 16 possessions, seven marks and six spoils per game in this period. Talia’s opponents have included St Kilda champion Nick Riewoldt, Melbourne swingman James Frawley, Bulldogs spearhead Stewart Crameri and Collingwood star Travis Cloke.

The Crows defence combined to limit Collingwood to only seven goals last week. The Pies had only 20 scoring shots – their fewest in a game this season.

Rory Sloane is second in the AFL for inside 50ms (50) in 2014. Teammate Brodie Smith is third in rebound 50ms.

Ball winners Marc Murphy and Kade Simpson have led the way for the Blues this year. Murphy is No.1 at the club in contested possessions, clearances and inside 50ms, while Simpson is on top in total disposals, marks and uncontested possessions.

Simpson is the No.1 ranked defender according to Champion Data Rankings. The Blues also use Andrew Walker to exit the ball from defensive 50m – he’s ranked No.2 in the AFL for Rebound 50ms.

Last week, Charlie Cameron became only the fourth player to wear the No.42 in a game for the Adelaide Football Club. The first three were Matthew Kelly, Chad Rintoul and Justin Cicolella.
