Despite the disappointing end result, there were plenty of positive signs for the Crows against Geelong, particularly on the AFL Fantasy front.

Matthew Wright ($368,900) battled bravely against the Cats and carried on his outstanding pre-season Fantasy form, with a 108-point performance. Wright racked up 31 possessions, five marks and five tackles and is now certain to grow in value over the coming rounds. The 24-year-old is the form Crow of 2014 so far and would be a worthy addition to any Fantasy side, particularly with his status as a dual-position MID/FWD.

Vice-captain Rory Sloane ($512,600) is never one to shy away from a contest and again was in the thick of things at Simonds Stadium, with 12 tackles helping him to a team-high 109 Fantasy points. Sloane provided great drive for Adelaide with seven inside 50m entries along with his characteristic contested game.

Sam Jacobs ($406,700) excelled over the summer and has set himself for a huge 2014 if Thursday night’s performance is any indication. ‘Sauce’ moved well and brought down an equal match-high eight marks, including a goal-saving grab that led to Adelaide’s first major of the game. Jacobs was also the leading player on the ground for hit-outs (26) on his way to 108 Fantasy points.

Matthew Jaensch ($310,400) will gain the attention of Fantasy coaches following an impressive 89-point performance against the Cats. The mid-priced defender lived up to his reputation as one of the most skilful players at the Club, recording 25 disposals at 100 per cent efficiency. Jaensch worked tirelessly up and down the ground for the Crows, notching five rebound 50ms, four inside 50ms and adding a goal to his name with a long-range bomb late in the third quarter. The 24-year-old is selected in just over one per cent of AFL Fantasy teams at this stage and could provide a handy point of difference if his form continues.
