The Crows will go into Sunday's clash with the Western Bulldogs as named, with Mitch Grigg to start as the substitute.

The Dogs have made a late change, with forward Lachie Hunter replacing draftee Marcus Bontempelli (soreness) in the team. Hunter is the sub.

On Friday, Grigg was recalled to the team to replace Richard Douglas, who will miss the next two games through suspension after pleading guilty to rough conduct against Greater Western Sydney co-captain Callan Ward.

Grigg played the first three games of the AFL season. He withdrew from Adelaide’s Round Four team with an adductor complaint and returned via the SANFL last weekend, collecting 28 possessions and a goal. Swingman Andy Otten and ball winners Jarryd Lyons and Brodie Martin are the emergencies.

Coach Brenton Sanderson said Grigg had impressed in Adelaide’s inaugural State League win last weekend.

“Griggy had some adductor soreness that affected him for a couple of weeks, but his performance on the weekend showed that he’s over that now,” Sanderson said.

“A number of players had good games in the State League and were around the mark this week. We feel ‘Griggy’ best fits our needs with Richard Douglas going out of the side.”

Otten, who played his first game of the season in the SANFL last round, will spend another week building his match fitness in the State League.

Defender Ben Rutten, who was a late withdrawal against GWS, will miss another week because of knee soreness. Rutten’s protégé Daniel Talia is poised to play against brother Michael for the first time on Sunday, with his younger sibling named in the Dogs’ team.

The Crows will have an open training session at AAMI Stadium from 10:30am on Saturday before flying to Melbourne.

As announced on Thursday, forward Taylor Walker will make his return from a 12-month knee injury in Adelaide’s SANFL game against Glenelg on Friday night. The match at Gliderol Oval (Glenelg) starts at 7:10pm. View the full Crows SANFL squad to take on the Bays.
