The Crows will go into Sunday's twilight clash with Carlton as named, with young midfielder Jarryd Lyons to start as the substitute.

Lyons, who last played AFL in Round One, was recalled to the team on Friday after excellent SANFL form. The skilful clearance winner has been best on ground for Adelaide’s State League team in its past three games.

Lyons took the place of another inside onballer, Matt Crouch. Coach Brenton Sanderson said Lyons demanded selection with his consistency in the State League.

“JL’s form in the SANFL has been fantastic. He just had to come back into the team,” Sanderson said.

“Matty Crouch is the unfortunate player to make way. Crouchy hasn’t done much wrong. Through no fault of his own, he’s only played about 10 minutes of footy in the last two weeks.

“He was the sub last week and because the team was playing so well, we didn’t use our sub until the last quarter. We had the bye the week before, so we feel like he just needs a full game in the SANFL.

“Crouchy and JL also play a similar role in our team. It’s nice that we’ve got some competition for spots with guys like Crouchy, Brent Reilly, Andy Otten, Mitch Grigg and Jared Petrenko out of the side at the moment.”

The Crows will hold an open training session at AAMI Stadium from 10:00am on Saturday. The session will run approximately one hour.
