The Adelaide Football Club Board met this morning to discuss the sanctions imposed at yesterday’s AFL Commission hearing.

It has unanimously resolved to support Steven Trigg and Phil Harper returning to employment with the Club at the end of their suspensions.

“The Board is united on this,” Chairman Rob Chapman said. “All decisions of the Board are based on putting the club first and ensuring the best overall outcomes for the Club.

“We are entering a crucial period for the Adelaide Football Club, with critical decisions to be made, especially surrounding our move to Adelaide Oval, and we believe Steven is the best person to lead us through this period.”

In the interim, and at the request of the Board, Chapman will step into a caretaker role of executive chairman from January 1.

Trigg, who yesterday was suspended from working in the AFL for the first six months of next year, will return to the Crows on July 1.

List Manager David Noble will act as General Manager Football Operations in Harper’s absence. Harper is on scheduled leave until the end of this month and will return to the Club on March 1.

Chapman said a full governance review is currently being undertaken by the Board, led by director Jim Hazel, with the support of other Board members and KPMG.
