Adelaide’s Nathan Bock was named an All Australian for the first time on Monday night.

Bock, 25, was selected at centre half-back in the 2008 Coca Cola All Australian Team and was one of nine first time selections.

Bock arrived back in Adelaide on Tuesday morning and was honoured to have received one of the AFL's highest individual accolades.

"I think it will take a little while to settle in and it was a little bit humbling," the Adelaide defender said. "I’m really excited and honoured and it’s something that I’ll cherish for a long time no doubt."

"It gives you a lot of confidence to know you can perform at a consistent level and that’s what I think an All-Australian selection shows is that you’re able to perform consistently.

"I’ll take a lot of confidence out of it and hopefully just push forward into next year."

Minor premier Geelong dominated the All Australian side for the second consecutive season, with seven Cats named in the team named at a function in Melbourne.

Eleven different clubs were represented in all with Carlton, Fremantle, Hawthorn, St Kilda and the Western Bulldogs each having two players named in the final 22.

Eight players were good enough to retain their places from the 2007 side – Gary Ablett, Jimmy Bartel, Joel Corey, Dean Cox, Brent Harvey, Johnson, Matthew Pavlich and Matthew Scarlett.

Pavlich's selection on the interchange bench was his sixth selection in the last seven seasons, the most by any member of the side.
