ADELAIDE has confirmed it has secured the services of Hawthorn’s premiership-winning midfield coach Todd Viney for the 2009 season.

Viney, who played 233 VFL/AFL games for Melbourne, joined the Hawks in 2005 but resigned from his post last week seeking a return to his native South Australia.

The 42-year-old is the second addition to the Crows’ coaching panel in as many weeks, with former premiership captain Mark Bickley announcing his return to West Lakes.

The club had lost Paul Hamilton to Essendon, where he accepted the position of football operations manager.

Neil Craig said he was excited about the prospect of Viney joining the club and the experience he can bring to the current coaching panel.

“We are very pleased to get someone of Todd’s standing in the football fraternity, Craig said. “He has had a distinguished playing career in the AFL with Melbourne and is a very experienced assistant coach, coming from a successful environment at Hawthorn.

“It is always nice to have a South Australian come back and coach in SA and he will add to our already impressive group of coaches.”
