Fremantle defender Alex Silvagni can accept a one-match ban for headbutting Crow Jared Petrenko in Friday night's Semi Final at AAMI Stadium.

However, forward Hayden Ballantyne has escaped penatly for contact made with Adelaide defender Luke Thompson.

Silvagni has been charged with a Level Three misconduct offence (250 demerit points, two matches) in that he headbutted or made contact with his head to Jared Petrenko, Adelaide Crows, during the third quarter of the Second Semi Final.

In summary, he can accept a one-match sanction with an early plea.

Based on the video evidence available and a medical report from the Adelaide Crows Football Club, the incident was assessed as intentional conduct (three points), low impact (one point) and high contact (two points). This is a total of six activation points, resulting in a classification of a Level Three offence, drawing 250 demerit points and a two-match sanction. He has no existing good or bad record. An early plea reduces the sanction by 25 per cent to 187.50 points and a one-match sanction.

Contact between Fremantle’s Hayden Ballantyne and the Adelaide Crows’ Luke Thompson from the second quarter of Friday’s match was assessed. The ball was loose in Fremantle’s forward line when Thompson went to his knees to take possession of the ball. Ballantyne bumped the Adelaide player and a free kick was paid against him at the time. After viewing all available footage and receiving a medical report from the Adelaide Crows, it was the view of the panel there was no forceful high contact made and the majority of contact was made to player Thompson’s back. No further action was taken.
