Fresh from a holiday in Thailand with his Crow teammates, Club Champion Richard Douglas will be looking for his second win in a month when he competes in the annual Grand Final sprint on the MCG.

Douglas returned home for Brownlow Medal night, where he polled 10 votes, and has been visiting his family in Broadford in country Victoria.

A known speedster, Douglas will be up against the likes of Sydney’s Lewis Jetta, Danyle Pearce from Port Adelaide and reigning sprint champ Rhys Stanley from St Kilda.

Douglas will be hoping to better Bernie Vince’s recent effort of running barefoot and slipping over at the start of the race. The Best and Fairest winner is also tipping Collingwood in a close one.

“They have been the best side all year and should be fresher,” Douglas said. “If it’s a sunny day they should have plenty of run after having an easier preliminary final.”

“But the Saints will be very hungry so you never know in footy!”

Heats for the Grand Final sprint will be held prior to the big match, while the final will be held during the half time break.
