Adelaide’s fan-selected AFL Fantasy team posted its biggest score of the season to smash Port Adelaide in the final Fantasy Showdown of the year.

The Fantasy Crows notched 2,447 points to maintain our 100 per cent Fantasy record against the Power in 2014.

It was an inspired decision by The 19th Man to back in-form midfielder Rory Sloane (160) for our Fan Fantasy captaincy. Sloane scored the biggest Fantasy total of his career and joined Sam Jacobs (129) Taylor Walker and Matthew Jaensch (118) in a great week for the tri-colours.

Adelaide’s joint vice-captain was not the only one to record a monster Fantasy score, in what was a great weekend for coaches across the competition.

Michael Barlow (137) notched his third total above 120 from his past five games, while Geelong skipper Joel Selwood (130) also surpassed 120 points for the fifth time from his past six outings.

Collingwood Fantasy favourite Dayne Beams (125) was also on fire to post his third triple-figure total on the trot.

Our forwards joined the party, led by big Lion Stefan Martin (123). Incredibly, Martin now averages the most points per game of any forward in the competition.

Fellow giant Jarryd Roughead (110) notched his third consecutive Fantasy ton, while Dustin Martin (106) continued his run as one of the most valuable Fantasy performers in the competition.

Outside of our own Matthew Jaensch, Gold Coast’s David Swallow (104) was our only defender to crack the 100-point milestone.

Crows fans will be hoping history repeats itself this weekend, as the Fantasy Crows confront the top-of-the-table Brisbane.

The Lions are the in-form Fan Fantasy team of the league and have not lost since Round 10. The Fantasy Crows have lost all three meetings between the two sides this year.

Bulldogs midfielder Tom Liberatore has struggled somewhat in his past three games, while Lions’ young gun Tom Rockliff keeps going from strength to strength with another huge score of 180 points last round. There’s no doubt who our opponent will back with the captaincy this weekend.

The Crows’ Fantasy experts propose an aggressive but potentially match-defining double trade ahead of our clash with the Fantasy Lions.

We could downgrade bench ruckman Scott Lycett, who has peaked in value, to bargain Hawk Luke Lowden. Admittedly, Lowden is not in the Hawks’ best 22, but it would free up enough cash for us to move on the underperforming Liberatore and snare Rockliff.

It could be the ‘make-or-break’ decision to help us topple the league leaders.
