Members and supporters will have an opportunity to farewell Crows great Graham Johncock before the Club’s final-ever game at AAMI Stadium on Saturday.

Johncock, 30, announced his retirement from AFL football, effective immediately, in July.

The Adelaide Football Club Life member played 227 games – ranked ninth on the Club’s all-time games leaderboard. The fan favourite is one of only 11 players to reach 200 games at the Crows, and is 11th on the Indigenous games leaderboard.

Johncock will do a lap of honour at 12:40pm and an on-ground interview prior to Adelaide’s game against Melbourne, which starts at 1:15pm.

There will also be interviews with past players, and video highlights on the big screen pre-game.

Immediately after the game, the annual guernsey presentation will take place, with the players involved in Saturday’s game to present their guernseys to 22 lucky members. The players will also head up to The Shed to thank members and supporters.

Following the members’ guernsey presentation, fans will also have a chance to have a kick and a catch on AAMI Stadium one last time (weather permitting).

Coach Brenton Sanderson encouraged all Crows supporters to get to the game and help farewell AAMI Stadium.

“This is an emotional game for our fans. This is where our Club was born and there have been 23 years of great memories here,” Sanderson said.

“We showed the boys some footage of the first-ever game against Hawthorn in 1991. The initial squad won by 86 points. Mark Bickley is the only one involved in our team now, who was here on day one, but our players certainly respect and appreciate what came before them.

“You see players in their jumpers now and, who started the journey in that jumper … for Brad Crouch (No.2) it was Andrew Jarman. For Matty Wright, it was Tony McGuinness and Michael Doughty and for Matty Jaensch it was Chris McDermott, our inaugural captain. Today, we’ve seen some fantastic highlights of Mark Ricciuto bursting through packs and then the next edit is of Patrick Dangerfield bursting through a pack and scoring a goal in the No.32.

“It’s only a short history, but there are some fantastic memories at this stadium. We’re hoping for a really big crowd. It’s important that we show up on Saturday in the right frame of mind … and that we close the chapter on AAMI Stadium with a really good win.”
