An extra 4600sqm of the Kings Reserve tree canopy will be preserved under the Adelaide Football Club’s revised master plan for its Thebarton Oval re-development.

At the third meeting of the Master Plan Advisory Group on Wednesday night, the Club responded to concerns from residents by agreeing to reduce the size of its second training oval.

“Throughout the community consultation process we have listened to feedback from residents and we feel the revised options we have put forward have been acknowledged and well received,” Crows CEO Tim Silvers said.

“Between the two revisions of the master plan, an additional 10,000sqm of the existing Kings Reserve landscaping has been retained and 70 per cent of the site’s existing tree canopy.

“The Master Plan Advisory Group also completed a walk through on Wednesday night after surveyors had marked the site to provide an accurate picture of what the further revisions of the master plan looked like.

“Further to this, the completed arborist’s report is expected to be completed within the next week which we will be able to provide alongside the revised master plan to examine the exact impact on the Kings Reserve tree canopy.”
