Paul Seedsman was one of the shining light’s in Adelaide’s loss to Melbourne at the MCG on Sunday.

The experienced winger amassed 36 touches (20 kicks) at 77% efficiency, along with 749 metres gained, to earn a huge amount of praise from senior coach Matthew Nicks.

Speaking to the media post-game, Nicks said Seedsman’s work with the younger players has helped him take his game to another level.

“Paul has been incredible for our group on and off the field,” Nicks said.

“He’s a weapon with the ball in his hands, he’s such a good leader on the field this year (and) he’s taken his leadership to another level.

“I’ve been super impressed with the way he’s gone about it.

“He’s a weapon with the ball in his hands.

“He helps the younger group structure up, he’s very, very good at handball receives.

“I don’t want to take anything away from Paul but the work he’s done with his younger teammates has made him a better player.”

The Crows battled gallantly against the Demons, who were fighting for top spot, and cut the deficit to three points midway through the third term.

Despite the fight, Nicks said his side was unable to put any scoreboard pressure on the hosts and Melbourne capitalised on its opportunities.

“Unfortunately we didn’t quite have the polish in the end,” Nicks said.

“We had some really good patches of play, we had momentum at times, but we knew it was going to be a challenge playing the top side or a side playing for top spot.

“Definitely (in) the last two weeks we found the game we put out there earlier in the season, in fact I think we’ve been even better these last couple of weeks as far as we’ve connected up.

“Some of our younger players around that 20-21 year old age, I think they’ve really stepped up, their games have gone to another level.

“It’s quite exciting for our football Club to have those guys up and going, playing the level of footy that they are.”
