Adelaide captain Rory Sloane says the win against North Melbourne on Sunday produced many special moments.

There’s a few that will remain etched in the skipper’s mind.

None more than playing in front of the AFL’s most passionate fans and the goals slotted by outgoing Club greats Tom Lynch and David Mackay, as well as one from debutant Lachie Gollant.

“It was a huge way to finish the year,” Sloane told the media on Monday.

“For our fans it was amazing, to have 15,000 of them there was incredible.

“Then for two blokes that mean so much to myself, the footy Club, but not only for Tom and Dmac, but for their families.

“All of a sudden all three of them kicked one, one after another and that was amazing, I’m just glad I was out on the ground for all three of them.

“All of a sudden all three of them kicked one, one after another and that was amazing.

“We looked up as we were coming off the ground and I could see Sarah (Mackay’s wife), I could see Courtney (Lynch’s wife), I could see all their kids and they had a big beaming smile on their faces.

“I think Chayce Jones summed it up for me, he said to me after the game that it was the most fun he’s had in football for a very long time.”

Sloane said it was emotional to be losing three loyal servicemen in Mackay, Lynch and Daniel Talia.

“I look at a lot of those guys down back, a lot of our young kids there, Harry Schoenberg, I could list off a lot of guys and I’d miss some, but that’s been the most pleasing thing for me,” he said.

“Guys will have to step up, like they have done this year.

“My message to everyone is keep making this your footy Club, keep owning this Club because we are on the right path.

“Although we lose some great clubmen, there will be some others who will take the reins.

Sloane said players and staff would catch up to “share some memories of the year” before the Club Champion this Saturday night.
