The Crows are set to open their 2022 SANFL campaign with a Showdown against crosstown rival Port Adelaide, in the first of four games at Adelaide Oval for the season.

The SANFL revealed the 2022 fixture on Thursday and has slated the blockbuster match at Adelaide Oval as a curtain raiser to the AFL Showdown on Friday, April 1.

The first bounce will be at 4.10pm.

Adelaide will then play another three matches at Adelaide Oval - in Round Nine against Sturt, Round 18 against Central District and a second battle with Port Adelaide (Round 19).

Crows SANFL manager Jarrod Meers said playing four matches at Adelaide Oval was a great opportunity for the squad and would help boost the connection with the Club’s AFL side.

“The SANFL has provided us with a very satisfying fixture, headlined by four Adelaide Oval games before our AFL squad and a regional game in a NGA zone of Whyalla,” Meers said.

“Providing our AFL listed and development squad players with even greater opportunity to play on Adelaide Oval this season will be a terrific experience and an integral part of their football development.

“Our members and supporters will be able to maximise their day at the footy by having the ability to watch all Crows players.

“The SANFL has provided us with a very satisfying fixture, headlined by four Adelaide Oval games.

“We have made a conscious effort to bolster the age, experience and maturity amongst our SANFL development group in season 2022 which will create a nice blend with our young and exciting AFL playing group.”

Another highlight of the Crows’ SANFL fixture includes a match against the Eagles at Woodville Oval on Friday, May 20 in Round Seven.

That will be the first League match played under lights at Woodville Oval.

Adelaide will celebrate Indigenous Round in Round 13 against Glenelg, while the Breakthrough Round to help raise money to fund mental health research is in Round Six against West Adelaide.

The four-week finals series will kick off on August 28, culminating in a Grand Final at Adelaide Oval on Sunday, September 18.
