Crows recruit Jordan Dawson will put his calf to the test at Adelaide’s main training session on Wednesday in preparation to play Fremantle in Round One on Sunday.

Dawson missed Adelaide’s Community Series game against Port Adelaide last week with calf soreness but has been increasing his running and training loads in the past fortnight.

“We have taken a cautious approach with Jordan with the view to getting him right for Round One,” High Performance Manager Darren Burgess said.

“He has progressed as well as we expected but he will need to get through Wednesday’s session before a final decision is made on his availability.”

Small forward Lachlan Murphy could also return to football this weekend, having resumed contact training following neck surgery in December.

“It’s exciting for Murph, his recovery is right in line with the expected time frame for his injury and if he gets through main training on Wednesday he will be available to play,” Burgess said.

“His rehabilitation has gone smoothly and it would be a great boost for everyone.”

Forward Shane McAdam, who missed the Community Series game against Port Adelaide with adductor soreness following the pre-season game against Brisbane, has been ruled out of Round One.

Mitch Hinge, who got a knock to his AC Joint against the Power and sat out training last week, was on the track on Monday and is expected to be available to take on the Dockers.
