Veteran midfielder Richard Douglas knew he would “miss some weeks” after injuring his ankle against Hawthorn in Round One.

“It’s the third time I’ve done it (high ankle sprain),” Douglas told The Crows Show, brought to you by Optus.

“I had a gut feeling I’d be missing some weeks.

“You waste away quite quickly because your ankle is locked away and you get no movement.”

Douglas said suffering an injury so early in the season was a two-sided coin.

“Four months of pre-season you’re building yourself up to tackle the year, then you get injured in Round One,” he said.

“Deconditioning (happens) so quickly, it’s just the way the body goes.

“It is frustrating, (but) fortunately it’s early in the season… hopefully I’ll be able to return for the back half of the year.”
