Adelaide defender Patrick Parnell is still recovering from a corked thigh he suffered on debut against West Coast on the weekend.

The 20-year-old was involved in a heavy collision in the final quarter and was subbed out of the game at Adelaide Oval.

“Paddy had a pretty severe cork in the last quarter and was unable to finish the game,” Crows High Performance Manager Darren Burgess said.

“He’s pulled up pretty sore and he’ll be assessed, we’re fortunate that we have the extra week before he has to play.”

Forward Josh Rachele is also recovering from a corked thigh and Burgess is confident he will be available to play Gold Coast after the mid-season bye.

“Josh’s corked thigh has almost resolved, as we know he’s a first-year player who has been battling a few different issues but we are confident he’ll be able to train this week and next week and be available for the next game,” Burgess said.

Fischer McAsey did not play in the SANFL game against Sturt on Saturday night due to a leg complaint and will be re-assessed after the break.

“Fischer was a late withdrawal from the SANFL game due to a lower leg issue, he landed awkwardly in the previous match and trained OK with it during the week but felt some awareness so we decided to take him out of the game,” Burgess said.

“We’ll manage that over the next week or so and he should be available for the next match.”

Full back Jordon Butts is on track to return from the concussion protocol in Round 14 after he was injured in the Round 11 loss to Geelong.

“Jordon is on his way through the concussion protocol, the last stage of which is training this week so we expect him to finish that and be available for the next match,” Burgess said.

Fellow defenders Luke Brown and Andrew McPherson both missed last week due to health and safety protocol but have resumed training and are expected to be available to take on the Suns.
