Another off-season of change has handed new Crows coach Brenton Sanderson a squad loaded with young players.
A year after losing the experience of players including Andrew McLeod, Tyson Edwards, Simon Goodwin, Brett Burton and Nathan Bock, Adelaide’s 2012 list has 34 players (out of 48) who will be aged 23 or under when the 2012 season kicks off in late March.

- Michael Doughty, who turns 33 in August, is clearly Adelaide’s oldest player. He’s more than three years older than Graham Johncock, who turns 30 in October.
- Rookie Rory Laird, who turned 18 on December 29, is the youngest Crow able to play in 2012. Brad Crouch, claimed by the Crows in trade week but ineligible to play AFL until 2013, doesn’t turn 18 until January 14.
- The shortest Crow is rookie Ian Callinan at 170.8cm.
- Sam Jacobs is the tallest and heaviest player at West Lakes. At 202.3cm, he’s just clear of Kurt Tippett (202.1cm). Jacobs weighs in at 105kg, more than a kilo heavier than Josh Jenkins and Tippett.
- Only seven current Crows have played more than 100 AFL games.
- Twenty current Crows started their playing careers in South Australia.
- Thirteen listed Crows are yet to play an AFL game.
- There are only 18 players remaining from Adelaide’s 2008 campaign.
