Adelaide defender Jordon Butts says the Crows can take plenty of confidence from its one-point victory over Melbourne at Adelaide Oval in Round 10 last year.

But there are two key areas the side will need to be strong in if it is a chance to snatch a win against the reigning Premiers.

“Our ball movement was really good last year and obviously in the contest as well, we were really strong and we matched them,” Butts said.

“It was probably those two areas - our ball movement and contest.

“It (last year’s win) means our brand of footy can do it and we’ll be taking that confidence into this game, obviously with it being at home, as well.

“Melbourne is a top-four team, so we are looking forward to the challenge.”

Speaking to the media on Wednesday, the key defender said he was also looking forward to battling some of the best forwards in the League.

“Last year, we played them (Melbourne) twice,” Butts said.

“I played on (Sam) Weideman and (Ben) Brown in the second game, they are reasonably tall down there but they’ve also got some good small forwards as well that we have to look out for.

“(But) the whole back six tries to work together and block for each other and help each other out in the air.”

Butts returned in the Round 14 clash against Gold Coast following a month off due to Covid and concussion.

He said the body was feeling good and he was ready to attack the second half of this season

Adelaide takes on Melbourne at Adelaide Oval on Saturday at 4.05pm.
