AFL stars have social media accounts hacked
Daisy, Dusty and Jack Riewoldt the latest in social media hacks
FOOTBALLERS have been asked to change passwords on their social media accounts after a hacker has targeted a number of high-profile players.
Magpie star Dale Thomas is the latest player to claim he has had a social media account hacked, after it was posted on Twitter that he was leaving the club.
Thomas' account tweeted on Wednesday: "thanks for the good times pies, decieded (sic) today that im not going to be here next year #futureandbeyond #carnnorrff #oobars".
It is the latest in a recent spate of hacks which started on Tuesday when Hawthorn's Lance Franklin had his Instagram site hacked into, resulting in a fake admission that he had joined Greater Western Sydney.
Franklin's manager Liam Pickering was forced to issue a statement explaining the hack.
Richmond star Dustin Martin has also claimed his Instagram account was hacked and the club has asked people to disregard social media activity from Jack Riewoldt.
On Wednesday, North Melbourne's Drew Petrie confirmed that the club had told its players to change their social media passwords in light of the hacking.
Despite some suggestions Thomas sent the tweet for a joke, a Collingwood spokesman said: "Daisy (Thomas) knew nothing about [the tweet]. He's been hacked."
When Franklin's Instagram account was hacked, a photo of the GWS logo appeared on his social networking account with the caption: "My soon to be new home".
Hashtags included #moneyoverloyalty, #byealistair and #upthegiants.
The photo attracted more than 1400 likes before it was deleted.
Instagram has been hacked who ever it is well done great work congrats
