Adelaide AFLW Captain Chelsea Randall is encouraging Crows fans to flock to Adelaide Oval for the historic first Showdown on Friday night.

It will be the first time the cross-town rivals face off for Premiership points in the AFLW competition and will add to the rivalry built by the men’s sides over the past two decades.

Speaking to the media on Monday, Randall hoped to see plenty of Crows fans in the crowd to help the side get over the line.

“For a lot of South Australians, it’s the one that’s in the calendar, they have circled it, so we are excited for the fans to come down and celebrate with us,” Randall said.

“We have such amazing, passionate Members and Fans and we can’t wait to see their faces on Friday night.

“Their voices are the loudest, they will help us on Friday night and we can’t wait to see everyone there.”

Their voices are the loudest, they will help us on Friday night.

Randall said she was proud to be part of the upcoming iconic game, which would mark another chapter in the Club’s successful AFLW history so far.

“It’s going to be a very historic moment for both clubs, it’s something we have been looking forward to for a very long time,” Randall said.

“The journey that you’ve been on, the journey we’ve shared and the journey that awaits us - it’s pretty amazing, it truly is.

“It’s been one hell of a journey and I’m just proud to have this opportunity to be playing footy at the elite level.”

The Crows will enter the match having come off a record-breaking 96-point victory over GWS on Sunday and Randall hoped the side’s strong form would continue.

“We are just focussed on us and the footy we want to play.,” Randall said.

“We have been really working on that contested side of our game (and) the girls were able to put some of that together, which were really pleasing signs.

“It’s just fantastic to see some of the young girls displaying the footy that they are playing at the moment.”

The match between Adelaide and Port Adelaide will get underway at Adelaide Oval on Friday at 7.30pm.
