Adelaide midfielder Rory Sloane says the Crows have grown in maturity, following their high-pressure encounter against Hawthorn on Sunday.

Sloane was influential in the three-point win, amassing a season-high 30 disposals, five clearances and 12 contested possessions.

Speaking to the media on Wednesday, the 33-year-old said the players' ability to fight-out the result proved how much they had grown over the past 12 months.

“Just to be able to grind out a win in solid contested conditions, that shows a bit of maturity from our group,” Sloane said.

“We know we didn’t quite play the type of footy we wanted to on the weekend, but we got a win and Hawthorn were outstanding with their pressure.

“We just want to build that consistency because we know that is what has let us down the last couple of years.

“I’ve missed my fair share of footy the last couple of years, so to help this young group out, I have really been enjoying it.”

Adelaide has now won four games this season and Sloane said the biggest change from last year was the experience the younger players now had under their belts.

“I think it’s just the experience and the balance that we’ve got in there,” Sloane said.

“We had a lot of young guys bear the load a bit the last couple of years.

“All of our young boys just have another year’s experience, and they are better off for it.

“I know this group is really hungry and that certainly has been a mindset shift over the pre-season.”

Adelaide plays Collingwood at Adelaide Oval on Sunday afternoon, with the first bounce at 4:10pm.
