The Adelaide Football Club will honour the work of Emergency Services personnel at its home match against West Coast on Saturday, June 10 as part of a new partnership with the South Australian Government.
The Emergency Services Match provides an opportunity to thank South Australian volunteers and employees from SAPOL, SA Metropolitan Fire Service, SA Country Fire Service, State Emergency Services and South Australian Fire and Emergency Services Commission, as well as raise awareness of the important work they do.
Up to 3000 Emergency Services workers will be provided with a complimentary ticket to attend the Round 13 match at Adelaide Oval, with the option to purchase additional tickets for guests at a reduced price. Eligible employees and volunteers will today receive an email with details on how they can register their interest in the initiative.
Minister for Police and Emergency Services Joe Szakacs and Crows CEO Tim Silvers officially launched the match on Tuesday at Adelaide Oval and Silvers said it provided a fantastic opportunity to acknowledge the incredible work of all of South Australia’s Emergency Services.
“Our Emergency Services personnel do extraordinary things every day to protect local communities and this match is all about recognising that,” Silvers said.
“We want to thank them for their efforts and we hope this gesture, while only small, goes some way to showing our appreciation.
“Through football we have a platform to celebrate the contributions these individuals make in our community, and we are proud to be able to make this game part of our annual football calendar.”
In the lead up to and as part of the match-day experience, Minister Szakacs said the Crows will shine a light on Emergency Services personnel who dedicate their lives to protecting and supporting the community.
“There is no better way to recognise the incredible service of our volunteers than through a spectacular game of footy at Adelaide Oval,” Minister Szakacs said.
“I encourage all Crows fans to come down and enjoy not just the footy, but a vast array of off-field action and the chance to meet and thank our emergency services heroes.”
The match will also act as a unique opportunity for emergency services agencies to market themselves for new recruits for both volunteer and career pathways through displays on the plazas around the Adelaide Oval and a chance to meet frontline heroes.
On the day there will be activations that will encourage footy fans of all ages to ask any questions and sign up as a volunteer or potential employee.
