He won Australian Idol two decades ago and became an international pop star but that has not stopped Guy Sebastian returning home and showing some love for his footy team.

Sebastian, whose family migrated to Australia when he was six years old, spent much of his younger years in SA and grew up supporting the Crows.

The 41-year-old singer/songwriter considers Adelaide his home town and, despite living in Sydney since winning Idol, he has always kept a close eye on his beloved Crows.

Speaking on this week’s episode of The Crows Show, Sebastian said he enjoyed watching Adelaide play live at Adelaide Oval during the Club’s Gather Round match against Carlton.

Sebastian, also a Club Ambassador, hoped to take his two young sons, Hudson and Archer, to the footy more often and create memories, similar to those he made growing up.

“Being here, taking my kids into the changerooms (during Gather Round) and singing the song was amazing,” Sebastian said.

“We were saying ‘that’s probably one of the best nights of our lives.

“My earliest (Crows) memories are (Tony) Modra, for me, that’s the era I grew up in and watching Mods sail over full-backs’ heads and take screamers.

“There were so many heroes back then, as there are now.”

Taking my kids into the changerooms and singing the song was amazing.

Sebastian was confident the Crows were now heading in the right direction and bound for success, with plenty of exciting players.

“It’s amazing to see the movement of the footy this year, through the midfield, how we’re delivering it to our forwards. I’ve loved how fluid the movement is,” Sebastian said.

“There’s obviously some stars, like watching Ben Keays this season, he’s been unreal, and (Izak) Rankine of course, and we’ve got to mention such a great showman in (Josh) Rachele.

“It’s just amazing.”

Also on The Crows Show this week, AFLW Senior Coach Matthew Clarke speaks about his side kicking off pre-season, while forward Elliott Himmelberg joins Ben Keays to discuss his Whopper Moment, thanks to Hungry Jack’s.

The Crows Show airs on Channel 7 this Sunday from 1.30pm.
