Two young Adelaide stars have been named in the 2023 AFL Players’ Association AFLW 22Under22 Team.

The fan-voted award recognises the best 22 players aged under 22 for the entirety of the AFLW season.

On Wednesday, the AFL Players Association announced the final team, which included Teah Charlton and Madison Newman.

Charlton, who was selected in the Season Six squad, played all 10 minor round games and averaged 14.8 disposals, 7.8 tackles and 3.2 clearances.

It’s another accolade to add to the 21-year-old’s football resume, after being nominated for a Rising Star Award in Round Eight, Season Six, and then going on to feature in the Crows’ Grand Final win that same campaign.

Newman enjoyed a standout season in 2023, with a permanent move from defence to the wing a catalyst behind her good form.

The 22-year-old recorded a career-best in disposals (18) and tackles (2.4) across 10 games.

This is Newman’s second selection in the team, after being included in Season Seven.
