Kuwarna Senior Coach Matthew Nicks and his staff will be posed with a tough question ahead of the side’s clash against Collingwood at the MCG this Saturday.

Do you tag star Magpie Nick Daicos?

The Collingwood Vice Captain has started his fourth season in sublime form, averaging 29.1 disposals and 6.9 clearances per game.

It has prompted many coaches from around the League to deploy a tagger to quell his influence.

Nicks was asked this question at his weekly press conference on Wednesday, where he said the temptation would certainly be there, with a number of his troops eager to take on the challenge.

“100 per cent we are tempted (to start the game with a hard tag on Nick Daicos),” Nicks said.

“But we don’t know yet, we’ve still got to train and finish our preparations, but he’s a fantastic player and is very hard to stop, even with a tag.

“(If we do go down that path) we’ve got a few guys who would be very keen for it, whatever the team needs we’ve got a group that will embrace that challenge.

“It’ll be one of those ones where we’ll see how the game looks, there’s always plans in place for these things, we’re not naive. We’re not gonna have him running around aimlessly, but there are times where we can go with that (the tag) and it doesn’t work out.”

Limiting the influence of Daicos is not the only challenge facing Nicks and his troops this Saturday afternoon.

The Pies are top of the AFL ladder, and sport a line-up of talented players across each line, according to Nicks.

“There are so many hard match-ups, there’s so many things they do well, which is why they are rated as one of the best teams in the competition at the moment,” Nicks said.

“They’ve got a very well rounded game, they defend so well, they’re very well connected, and I know lots of teams around the league are looking at them right now and trying to work out how to stop them.

“That’s the challenge that faces us this week, and the group is itching to get over there and have a crack at Collingwood and get a win over a team that has had the wood on us for a while.”

Kuwarna takes on Collingwood at the MCG this Saturday afternoon, with the first bounce at 12.50pm (ACST).
