Adelaide veteran Taylor Walker says the form of the Club’s SANFL side has a number of players knocking on the door of senior selection.

The Crows’ SANFL side has produced the best start to a season in its history, winning seven matches and losing just two to be sitting second on the ladder.

Talking to Roo, Ditts and Loz on Triple M Adelaide Breakfast, Walker highlighted the strength of the Crows’ squad and said there would be many in the frame for a spot in the AFL side.

“The good thing for our Club at the moment is we are in good form in the AFL and good form in the SANFL as well,” Walker said.

“That’s due to guys like Lachie McAndrew, who is giving us a great look in the midfield, you look at behind the ball and James Borlase is in great form and ahead of the ball Chris Burgess is in great form.

“Charlie (Edwards) is working super hard at the moment, he’s doing a great job and playing some great footy off half back, so I’m sure when the time arises for him he’ll put his hand up and play his role.

“And then you’ve guys like Billy Dowling who’s playing some great footy, Luke Nankervis is another, along with Harry Schoenberg who before getting injured was in great form - so the squad is in really good shape at the moment.”

Walker and his teammates have just enjoyed their mid-season bye, where the group was given four days off to re-charge ahead of the second half of the 2025 campaign.

The Crows’ all-time leading goal-kicker explained how the bye had benefited him.

“The bye is a great thing, which freshens you up mentally more than physically to be honest,” Walker said.

“Sometimes physically you want to keep rolling because you’ve got a bit of momentum, but mentally it’s great to completely switch off and not think about football at all.

“I’m feeling really refreshed now, and super excited to head over to the MCG this weekend and get back into it against the Tigers.”

Adelaide will begin the second half of its season with a clash against Richmond at the MCG on Sunday.

Walker said the squad’s mindset heading into the match would be critical, as it looks to start strongly after an extended break.

“The best thing we’ve been able to do across the first half of the year has been our ability to execute our process, and we won’t change from that,” Walker said.

“Competing strongly in the contest has been the key for us, and allowed us to get the other aspects of our game going, so we’ll rock up to the MCG on Sunday with an intent to be really good in the contest.

“The competition is so close, so if you are even five per cent off, the opposition will expose you, so we’ll need to be at our best from the start on Sunday afternoon.”

Adelaide takes on Richmond at the MCG this Sunday afternoon, with the first bounce at 2.50pm (ACST).
