Adelaide AFLW Premiership defender Chelsea Biddell says there are two key factors behind her decision to re-sign with the Club.

Biddell put pen-to-paper on a new deal this week, keeping her at the Crows until at least the end of 2027.

Speaking to AFC Media on Thursday, the 26-year-old said there was no hesitation in extending her time at the Crows’ nest.

I love the club, everyone has put a lot of faith in me, and I feel like we have a pretty special group here,” Biddell said.

“I feel like we are building something special, so that was a pretty big reason for me staying.

“The culture and just the group that we have here is amazing, we are all really close off the field as well, and I think that definitely helps with the on-field connection.”

Adelaide selected the key back at the 2019 AFLW Draft and she went on to make her debut, as a forward, in Round One, 2020.

The coaching cohort then had Biddell make the switch to the backline, where she has become one of the best backs in the League.

A member of the Crows’ Season Six (2022) AFLW Premiership team, Biddell has finished top five in the past four Club Champion counts.

She said hard work was behind her rapid rise.

“I’ve just worked really hard, self-confidence has been a big thing too, just continuing to build my confidence and helping the girls around me as well, now I’m getting older.

“Hopefully I can take them under my wing and teach them a few things as well.”

The Crows are in the midst of their pre-season preparations, with their 2025 AFLW campaign kicking off on August 17.

Biddell said players had returned from the off-season in good shape and were looking forward to the campaign starting.

“We are training really hard, working on a lot of different things and hopefully we can transfer that into game,” Biddell said.

“It’s (the start of the season) getting closer now, so were pretty excited to get into the trial matches and really put our hard work to the test.

“I just want to continue to play my role and hopefully we can have a bit of team success that would be great.”

Adelaide will play two pre-season trial games – against Port Adelaide on July 26 and Melbourne on August 3 – before its Round One match against St Kilda.
