Adelaide will welcome back Emma Sampson to its coaching group for the 2025 season.
The former Crows Assistant Coach spent three seasons with the Club from 2022 to 2023 following a decorated career in the South Australian Women’s Football League.
Sampson will take the role of Development and Scrimmage Coach, looking after non-selected AFLW players each week in AFL-run scrimmage matches in Melbourne.
Head of Women’s Football Phil Harper said the Club was pleased to have someone with Sampson’s pedigree back at the Crows.
“It’s great to welcome Emma back,” Harper said.
“She had a strong impact previously as an assistant coach, particularly in developing our young players.
“This role works to her strengths in helping our young players develop their games to be AFLW ready.”
Sampson will replace Hannah Button, who departed following the 2024 season.
The remainder of Adelaide’s coaching structure remains similar, with 2024 newcomer Jack Madgen in charge of the forward line.
Former Crows AFL ruck Kieran Strachan will continue to coach the rucks but will take on more responsibility in the midfield and stoppages following the departing of Renee Forth.
“Being able to see more of Strachanie, given his reduced commitments in our AFL program, is a real bonus for the team,” Harper said.
“He will work with Courtney Cramey on stoppages with our midfield group.”
Cramey will continue to coach the midfield, alongside her role as Development Manager and Marijana Randall will remain in charge of the defence.
Long-time coach Warwick Raymond will again coordinate tackling and training with the full squad.
Despite their departure, Harper said he expected to see Button and Forth at games regularly as vocal supporters.
“Both Hannah and Renee are much-loved past players and now past coaches,” he said.
“Unfortunately, due to their own personal and professional commitments, they won’t return in 2025.
“However, both players have left lasting impacts and we can’t wait to see them at games supporting the girls from the stands.”
