Adelaide defender Jordon Butts will resume contact training at the end of the week as he continues to recover from a punctured lung.
The 25-year-old has not played since Round 18 however following a consultation with the surgeon could now return in the next one to two weeks.
“Buttsy received some good news from the surgeon,” Adelaide General Manager High Performance Darren Burgess said.
“At the end of this week he’ll be able to partake in some main training, contact training and get into some high-speed running.
“That means probably a week or two after that he’ll be available to play.”
Ruckman Lachlan McAndrew has unfortunately suffered a broken jaw and will miss the next four weeks.
“Lachie sustained a knock to his jaw last week - it was a bit sore but ok,” Burgess said.
“(Against Port Adelaide) he sustained another knock to the area unfortunately.
“He’ll be on a restricted diet this week but after that he’ll be able to eat normally and get through a bit of running… he just won’t be able to be involved in any contact until right up until he can play.”
Josh Rachele continues to progress through his rehabilitation and will soon do so without a knee brace.
“Josh will get his heavy brace off this week and that will enable us to do a fair bit more work with him,” Burgess said.
“It will also give us a bit more of a picture of how far away he is from running and training, and therefore playing.
“He’s done a lot of work while in the heavy brace, with it removed he’ll be able to do a lot more.”
Tyler Welsh is available selection after recovering from a broken toe.
As reported on Monday, Max Michalanney will miss the next 4-6 weeks with a hamstring strain.
“Max is in really good spirits and progressing through his rehab… he should be running by the end of the week,” Burgess said.
