Adelaide veteran Taylor Walker has claimed up-and-coming defender Josh Worrell as his latest prank victim.
Renowned as being a prankster throughout his 18-year career at West Lakes, Walker revealed the details of how he stitched up Worrell on his weekly Triple M Adelaide Breakfast spot.
“In the pre-season there is a whistle you can buy and we put it in the muffler in his car and every time he accelerated it made his car whistle,” Walker said.
“We had him going for two or three weeks and his car was whistling, we then got wind he was going to take it to the mechanic so we quickly went and took it out.
“He went to the mechanic and they said there’s nothing wrong with his car, when he came back to the Club the next day we put it straight back in.
“He thought it was his roof racks that were making the noise, and when he found it was us he kept saying ‘I knew it was you, I knew it was you’ - it was very funny.”
That wasn’t the only time Worrell had been pranked by his teammates this year, after they filled up his car with training equipment before a main session early in the season.
Walker told the story after it was confirmed on Monday that Worrell had signed a long-term extension, tying him the Club until 2033.
He said it was a massive boost for the group, and spoke of how popular the 24-year-old was among the four walls at the Club.
“It’s massive for us to have Joshy Worrell sign on until 2033,” Walker said.
“It's an amazing reward for the hard work he’s put in, the form he’s in and the dedication he’s given for our footy Club.
“He’s very well-loved around the locker room, on field and off field we just love him, and we couldn’t be more grateful that he has chosen to be with us for pretty much the rest of his career.”
