A trio of Crows have been recognised for standout State League seasons with selection in the 2025 SANFL Team of the Year.
Adelaide SANFL Captain Jack Madgen, ruck Lachlan McAndrew and forward Chris Burgess were named in the side, with all three earning a maiden appearance in the team.
Madgen recorded his best SANFL campaign since joining the Club ahead of the 2022 season following 49 AFL games with Collingwood.
The 32-year-old formed part of the Crows’ back six, averaging 14.6 disposals, 5.5 marks and 2.6 rebound 50s from 18 games.
During the last few rounds, Madgen was swung forward and finished the season with eight goals.
Madgen also notched his 50th SANFL game against Norwood in Round 16.
McAndrew joined the Club under the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period from Sydney and lined up in 14 SANFL matches.
The 211cm ruck averaged 37 hit-outs for the Crows’ SANFL team - including 51 against Glenelg in Round Three - to go with 12.9 disposals, 4.3 clearances and 5.1 marks.
Burgess is Adelaide’s State League leading goalkicker, booting 52 majors across 16 SANFL games in 2025.
At a season average of almost 3.5 goals per game, no other Crow has kicked as many goals in any SANFL season.
Burgess’ best haul was seven goals against North Adelaide in Round 11.
The 2025 SANFL Team of the Year was selected by SANFL’s Sean Toohey, Daniel Joyce and Zac Milbank, The Advertiser’s Andrew Capel, Football Budget editor Peter Cornwall, and Channel 7’s John Casey.
