The Adelaide Football Club congratulates former board director and inaugural Crow Andrew Payze on his induction into the South Australian Football Hall of Fame at Monday night’s Magarey Medal count.

Payze is the longest serving director in the Club’s history, sitting on the board from 2001 until his retirement from the position in 2017.

He was awarded Crows life membership in 2011 for his outstanding service to the Club.

As a player Payze enjoyed a 14-year career, playing 304 games with West Torrens and Woodville-West Torrens and was a premiership player in 1993.

He also played 14 AFL games across two seasons with the Crows, after winning a spot on the Club’s inaugural list in 1991.

Speaking to The Advertiser following his induction into the SA Football Hall of Fame, Payze said football had always held a special place in his heart.

“Footy has been the gift that has just kept on giving for me,” Andrew, 59, said of his long involvement in the game.

“I had a lot of family support when I was playing and now I’m involved in coaching it’s still a real family affair as my wife (Sam) and daughters (Eliza and Georgia) still go to watch games, so it’s just been an unbelievable football journey in all sorts of capacities.’’

In the 2025 Magarey Medal count, midfielder Billy Dowling led the way for the Crows, polling 12 votes across the SANFL season.

Ruckman Lachlan McAndrew received eight votes, while recently retired Matt Crouch rounded out the top three with seven.

Adelaide SANFL Team of the Year representatives Chris Burgess, Lachlan McAndrew and Jack Madgen were also recognised on the night.
