Adelaide AFLW coach Matthew Clarke is confident his side will bounce back against Hawthorn this weekend after a three-point loss to Brisbane on Sunday.
“I’ve got a great amount of faith and belief in the group and the capacity we have and our ability to get better each week,” Clarke said post-game.
“Ultimately, if we do (continue to improve) then we’re not too far away.
“We haven’t played a truly complete game across the season yet, but that’s not unusual, often it’s hard to put an absolutely complete performance together.
“If you reflect on the whole game, it’s 80 minutes of footy, where about 74 of those were pretty good from us, but you need 80.”
That chance to play 80 minutes will come when the Crows face the undefeated Hawks at Kinetic Stadium in Frankston.
The sides have only faced off once in the history of the AFLW – in Round Three in 2024 – with the Crows walking away 26-point winners.
Clarke said his side was focused on turning the loss into four points.
“We’re 2-2 in the season and there are eight games to go, so we’ve got to find our best footy over those games and try to win enough to qualify for finals,” he said.
A positive out of the loss to Brisbane was the successful return of Co-Captain Sarah Allan, who’d spent two matches sidelined with a quad strain.
“Sarah got through the game well,” Clarke said.
“I thought some of her aerial contest was really strong and she defended the ground really well, so we’re happy to have her back.”
The Crows take on the Hawks in Round Five away on Sunday, September 14 at 2.35pm (ACST).
